The Electronic payment system patented CARTA has been conceived and producted by ArTech. It works by magnetic cards.

The system can be advantageously used in "fidelity card" applications in order to promote propaganda, to award usual custom, to have a personal management of credit or charged card (pre or post paid). It can be also integrated with access control system for special applications (such as clubs, swimming pools, gyms etc.).

The system is remarkably useful: since 1994 it is already working in many commercial sites whose common ground is to make "faithful" and award one's own custom. Further, it allows payment in advance by using a prepaid card.

Emphasis has been put on safety system which is really hard to violate. Some technical patented solutions prove that CARTA is safer than Bancomat, credit cards, telephone cards, motorway cards etc.

For your knoweledge, until 31st December 1996, something like 300 CARTA systems of one and more selling points have been set up. Export in anglophone, francophone, portoguese countries and some of East Europe countries as well is being carried out.

System functionality

The immediate benefits for the shop -keeper:	Benefits for the Customer using his card:
The payment can be obtained in advance	He can obtain an allowance on any goods or service purchased
The Customer will tend to attend the shop that has delivered the card	He has not to pay with cash money
Payments without cash increase the sales.	He can get benefits, special offers, promotions and any other bonus studied by the shop-keeper.
Definition of an initial value:	The payment operation:
The shopkeeper sets the initial value and writes the card.	The Customer gives his card to the shopkeeper:
The Customer gets his card and pays it immediately (pre-payed), or when he reaches the purchase limit (credit card).	The shopkeeper sets the purchase amount, and writes the card with the CartaCod device. Any data showed on the screen can be updated; the card writing stores the new value and closes the operation.
In prepaid cards the INITIAL value is usually higher than the real amount paid by the Customer; With credit cards the Customer usually gets a final bonus or benefit.
